Engaging learners through masterful instructional design
I am a instructional designer, writer and a life-long learner who collaboratively works with companies and organizations to assess and evaluate learning obstacles to pinpoint training needs. With over 25-years teaching experience in both secondary and post-secondary education, I use digital best practices and authoring tools to tailor-make learning opportunities that engage learners with job aids, clear and concise modules, and scenario-based learning objects in online learning environments.
Inspired by great literature and challenging problems, I set sail each day determined to find solutions and of course enjoy the work while I’m doing it.
“To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.“–Alfred, Lord Tennyson, from “Ulysses”
The key to effective learning design is reflecting upon what works and doesn’t work with each iteration. Revising the learning design based on feedback from others is cyclical throughout the design process. Instructional design is not about the designer’s tastes. It is about the learner’s needs and the desired goals and outcomes for what is to be learned.
